We’ll continue to sponsor Lagos NUJ Media Games –  Med-View

Frontline Nigerian airline, Med-View, has pledged its continued support for the Lagos NUJ annual sports tagged Med-View/Lagos NUJ Media Games, opening on Monday, October 24.

Identifying with the Games at the Lagos, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Secretariat, venue of the press conference heralding the 2016 edition of the Games, Executive Director, Med-View Airline, Alhaji Isiaq Naa Allah, expressed the airline management’s satisfaction with the Games as earlier organized, saying “Med-View/NUJ have come a long way. He said the management is pleased to sponsor the Games this year as always, in spite of the economic recession in the country.

Isaq said Med-View will continue to be the major sponsor as long as the Games continues.

Organizers of the event, Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), while unveiling plans for this year’s Games, announced that the Med-View/NUJ Media Games will open at 12 noon on Monday, October 24 and run through Saturday, 29th when it would draw to a close at 3pm. The field events will hold at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The Lagos NUJ Chairman, Comrade Deji Elumoye appreciated Med-View Airline for being the major sponsor of the Games since 2014. He thanked the management of the airline for keeping the sponsorship going and assured that the company will not have cause to regret the relationship.

Elumoye warned media organizations against the use of mercenaries because the original concept of the Games is for participation of only journalists.

Scheduled events for this year’s Games are: Football (5-Aside), athletics, table tennis, draught, scrabble, ayo and tug-of-war

Highlight of the day was the draw ceremony of the football event when 16 media houses, registered for the event, were grouped by ballots.

Defending champions, Lagos Information, The Nation; Chief Detective and Voice of Nigeria are in Group A, while The Sun, Vanguard, The Champion and New Telegraph are in Group B.

Lagos Television; Correspondents; New Nigeria and Business Plus are in Group C, while Daar Communications; Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria; Federal Information and The Source make Group D.
