Kogi youths attack governor

For the second time in two weeks, irate mob attacked the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

The Friday attack happened immediately the Governor came out of the mosque after the Jumaat prayer in Lokoja, the state capital.

Some of the youths who defied the Governor’s heavy security carried placards with anti-government messages.

Governor Bello was also attacked two weeks ago by youths in Ankpa, a commercial town in the state, where he attended a function.

Onlookers said the governor was pelted with stones, rotten fruits and vegetables at the Lokoja Central Mosque, close to the old market.

One of the witnesses, who preferred anonymity said the youths lamented the Governor’s inability to create jobs and ease the economic tension in the state. He was also accused of living in affluence while the people suffer untold hardship because of poverty

The protesters were dispersed by the police with tear gas.
